Army Peak
Army Peak (also known as Nelson Butte)〔Orth, Donald J. ''Dictionary of Alaska Place Names''. Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1967. p 87.〕 is a summit in the Nome Census Area, Alaska, United States. Its name likely derives from the United States Army's presence in the area after the establishment of Fort Davis in 1900. It is northeast of the city of Nome. The name was first reported in 1900 by J. F. Pratt of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and entered into the Geographic Names Information System on March 31, 1981.〔(USGS GNIS Feature Detail Report: Army Peak )〕 ==References==
